KayTar still can't move at that pace, no matter what mode of locomotion it is.

Mommy intuition is powerful stuff, so I agree with your call. If the ped can convince you WHY it is a good idea, then do it, but she isn't very delayed and it is only walking, right? So I'd be less apt to be concerned, too.Kylahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03311014761113076785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2674562610629395012.post-10774419807719016752008-02-08T15:14:00.000-05:002008-02-08T15:14:00.000-05:00How adorable! I bet she'll be walking soon...whether or not you get BCW involved!! I love the way Ben helps her! Does she like to push a toy stroller or grocery cart? That sometimes helps!Michael and Catherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13600228466069632170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2674562610629395012.post-36253001222915002952008-02-08T09:23:00.000-05:002008-02-08T09:23:00.000-05:00Epiphany- We do have a program like that here in G...Epiphany- We do have a program like that here in Georgia and Ben was involved in it. He saw a physical and speech (for feeding) therapist from the age of one. I have no idea why they didn't recommend that program for Clara, except that because she is never sick that didn't find out about her delays until now. We also don't see the same doctor. When I talk to the doctor today I am going to request a referral. That program should be able to do an initial screening that would let us know if there is more to worry about. I don't know if the doctor will comply, she was very adamant about this neuro thing, and may not be willing until we do that. But we will see.

Beck-If the doctor is able to convince me of why she thinks Clara needs to see a neurologist we will revisit that option. That's why I called her today, to discus my concerns. I don't want to bury my head in the sand, but the finances are an issue for us right now.Chaotic Joyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16743049921159926147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2674562610629395012.post-57129239422208705242008-02-08T08:55:00.000-05:002008-02-08T08:55:00.000-05:00I don't know if there's a like program in Georgia,...I don't know if there's a like program in Georgia, but when my pediatrician was concerned about Lindsay's walking delay he gave me the number for a state-funded program that helps kids with a variety of problems. He gave me the number at 15 months because, he said, it often takes several months to be seen, but they get evaluated by a group of different specialists at the same time and a case worker coordinates treatment.

That said, a week after he gave me the number she started walking.Lady Epiphanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05079046946352148577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2674562610629395012.post-64867556684876693952008-02-08T00:20:00.000-05:002008-02-08T00:20:00.000-05:00That girl is super fast! She's a darling, darling little thing, but I do know that my baby didn't walk until she was 15 months old and that this was considered a big deal by her specialist. (she still has "physical delays" written on her medical chart)
If she doesn't have anything else worrying you, then she's probably just a late walker and you're probably fine waiting on her appointment for a little while.Beckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13953517447164263617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2674562610629395012.post-73020811427342039082008-02-07T18:37:00.000-05:002008-02-07T18:37:00.000-05:00Oh, Joy- she looks perfectly fine to me (I know my...Oh, Joy- she looks perfectly fine to me (I know my completely medically uneducated opinion is SO valuable!). Still- I have known so many kids who have had crazy pre-walking forms of mobility that I just can't feel worried when I look at her. Pumpkin didn't walk until she was 16 months old and until then crawled with this nutty gorilla-like scoot. Seriously, people would crack up watching her move around like she did. She got up on her feet in due time and all is well. You can see that Clara CAN walk, she just isn't ready to do it all the time yet. Don't you think?

I don't blame you for cancelling. It stinks to have to pay out of pocket for medical visits and especially when your instincts tell you it is unnecessary.Lorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05528541804521203406noreply@blogger.com
