Nearly all of what I write about is my children, and I have often thought I would like to find a more concrete way to preserve a portion of those writings. Just a fraction. For myself and also for them. Someday my children may be parents themselves and I would love for them to have the opportunity to read
I would give a lot for such a record of my own mother's thoughts while raising us.
So my question is, do any of you print any of your posts to save? Is there anything that you write that you then put in hard copy for yourself or your children to see when years down the road the archives, and memories, may not be available? Or am I the only one so self-importantly deluded as to think that my offspring would even be interested?
I have been wondering about this for a while now and would love to hear some thoughts.

oooh.. great question. i haven't even saved mine to my hard drive... and i've been meaning to ask people how they preserve all this stuff, too. can't wait to read the answers you get!
i haven't the foggiest. i've saved nothing, but i'd like to...
Blogger provides directions on how to back up your blog (search - back up blog). I know I need to follow them but as yet, have not. I plan to get around to it and then stick the whole thing on a jump drive, which I will update periodically for the kids. As technology changes, I think I'll just move it to the newest storage spot.
Danigirl from Postcards from the Mothership prints off copies every month. I've considered doing this, but the sheer volume of paper scares me. I'd love to have bound annual volumes of my blog - kind of like those photo books you can get. I think there are companies out there who will do something similar, but no one who will simply take your blog and print it up.
I've wanted to. It is a thought. I wanted to buy some lovely paper, print out older posts a bit at a time, comments included, and saved them in physical form. But I haven't. I think you should.
I think you definitely should. And no, I haven't either, but I know I do like to go back and look at my old journal entries from way back, so I can imagine the blog will be the same.
You've written such sweet and touching things about your kids, I can imagine it would be a good thing to preserve it for them.
My mom is dealing with the end-product of saving lots of homemade gifts from five children right now. She's been in her basement almost everyday for 2 months cleaning it out. I don't want any wreath I made her in 2nd grade. Where am I supposed to put boxes of old cards, crafts, etc? I haven't seen any of it in at least a couple decades, and I'm sure I don't need to see it now. I've told her to toss it becauseI don't want it. However, if she had a condensed version of writings about her thoughts as she raised all of us, THAT I would want. I'd get a big kick out of it. My mom minus all the wisdom that has come after raising 5 children would be neat to see. It would make her see more "human" rather than "mom," I suppose.
Lynn-I feel the same way about my mom. I would actually love to see the way she struggled with us and cherished us over the years.
And there would be lots of condensing involved. I have written 150 posts in the last 6 months and most of them I wouldn't save - leaving my children a legacy of 300 posts a year would be a burden not a gift. :)
I actually hadn't thought of it. Somehow the online version seem perpetual and everlasting. My children are older, so occasionally they do read what I have written.
I scrapbook (much less now that I blog!), so maybe I should print and put these in a book!!!
Hmmmmmm.
Yes, I print and copy and save as PDF's.
Someday, I'll want them to know it all; just not today. ;)
YOU READ MY MIND. I BOUGHT A BINDER AND SOME SHEET PROTECTORS, BUT THAT'S AS FAR AS I HAVE GOTTEN. I DO WANT TO PRINT EACH POST FOR KEEPSAKE SINCE THIS IS ABOUT THE ONLY THING I UPDATE. I JUST HAVE NOT GOTTEN THAT FAR. I DON'T HAVE A COLOR PRINTER HERE AT WORK AND SINCE I DON'T HAVE INTERNET AT HOME I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO ANYTHING YET. I FIGURED I WOULD PRINT ONE POST AT A TIME ON PICTURE PAPER, SINCE I HAVE SO MANY PICTURES, AND PUT THEM IN THE BINDER KINDA LIKE A SCRAPBOOK. WELL, GOOD LUCK. I HOPE YOU FIGURE SOMETHING OUT. LET US ALL KNOW WHAT U COME UP WITH. LOVE YA
Sorry, I don't know how to lonk in my comments! Take a look at this post that my friend Bethany wrote.

It's about a site that lets you make your own book... www.blurb.com
I'm planning to copy and save all of my posts...some day. My MIL keeps telling me I need to back up all of my posts just in case something happens to my blog. She's right, I just haven't had time to sit and do it.
