What the heck? Updated

So I just noticed that beneath each one of my posts is a place for readers to give it a rating. 1 to 5 stars.

Really?

As I am approaching my blogoversary I am becoming increasingly insecure about whether I should continue to blog in this, emotional spewing, kind of outlet. I wonder if I have I lost my voice. Or am I fooling myself to thing I ever really had one? Am I now pandering too much to what I think people want to read or worrying too much about what people in my real life will think of me? There are so many bloggers that are smarter, more insightful, better writers, wittier, better at conveying their faith, etc. Maybe I am just out of my league.

Anyway...What I DO NOT need is a place where people can pop-in and rate each post I write. Nah. Didn't really care for it. or That one was pretty good. I'll give it 4 stars. Talk about encouraging me to pander. Or reeking havoc on my fragile writing self-esteem.

Blegh.

So, I don't know why the rating thing showed up, but I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET RID OF IT!

Someone, please help.

Updated. Blogger's response is here.

It basically says "Oh fudge! We were testing something new and we screwed up. We're working on fixing it. Don't call us, we'll call you."

I just noticed that myself on my own blog. Did I do that, I wondered? While I was glad to see it wasn't just just me, I say amen to what you said. I'd give you five stars. And if you figure out how to get it off, I'll send them to you in dark chocolate.

I had the same problem today, but it's gone now. Who would want something like that on their blog? I don't really need to know what people would rate me.

I'd give you five if it was still there.

Go to customize
go to layout
go to page elements
when you get to "add or arrange page elements", click on the "blog posts" button. It will be there and you can just click "no."

I turned mine off, too. My idea of HELL is having people able to rate my posts on a scale of 1 to 5 - good grief! I would stop writing!

Who wants to be rated? Nobody, that's who. ;)

It's easy to find someone who is better at something than we are when we're comparing ourselves. While I can respect the decision to stop blogging, since sometimes my own life becomes more about the blog rather than the reverse.

Be gentle with yourself. The only person you're tasked with being better than is the person you are today. From what I see, that's a pretty tall order, my friend.

this is from blogger's status blog:

Some users may be seeing star ratings on their posts without having opted in to this new feature. This is an experimental feature that was accidentally enabled on some users' blogs. We're currently working to remove star ratings on all affected blogs. In the future, you'll be able to choose to opt-in to this feature; it won't appear automatically.

Update: The Star Rating feature has been disabled for the moment.

I give you 5 stars all the time!!

Don't go away, I'd miss you. I don't look for the most literate bloggers (although I consider you a very good writer), or the most insightful, or intelligent, or blah, blah, blah... I look for bloggers who I can relate to, who seem real, and make me laugh now and then. You fit the bill on all three.

Fragile writing self esteem--I'm right there with you on that. "So many bloggers that are smarter, more insightful, better writers, wittier, better at..."--EXACTLY what I feel after spending a protracted amount of time in blog land. Listen, my friend, I think you are definitely a 5 star, a truly gifted writer who communicates with a degree of honesty and authenticity that sometimes takes my breath away. Keep typing; we'll keep reading!
